LOOK 1: HOW TO CREATE A MAGICAL DARK SMOKEY EYE
The most mysterious of shadow looks doesn’t have to be a mystery to create. Knowing a little artistry secret, however, can make the difference between a dark smokey eye that’s lackluster and one that dazzles. The little secret is a base of matte indigo color and a finish of metallic silver—two shades that are not black at all, but that work together to conjure not-of-this-world, gorgeously rich dimension. We make the magic happen with the 35MI Magic Mirror Artistry Palette and these five steps:
STEP 1: Apply "Unreal Depths" to the lids, using the side of a firm blending brush, like the M433 Firm Blending Fluff Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 2: Using the rounded tip of the same brush, blend the same shade over the creases and onto the outer corners.
STEP 3: Continuing to work with that shade, smudge it under the bottom lash lines and around the inner corners with a dense, round brush, like the M321 Bullet Crease Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 4: Layer "Glass Gaze" onto the creases, using the rounded tip of the M433 Firm Blending Fluff Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 5: Press "Smoke & Mirrors" onto the base of the lids, using your fingertip.
LOOK 2: HOW TO CREATE A SUPERNATURAL DOUBLE CAT-EYE
As if reflected in a magic mirror, this cat-eye effect in which the winged liner splits in two will deliver impact on the double. It’s an artistry technique that can be applied to many looks, but we like it with this golden one that can transition from day to night. Here’s how you can create it in seven steps with the 35MI Magic Mirror Artistry Palette:
STEP 1: Press "Rich Refraction" onto the lids, from the lash lines to the creases, using the side of a pointed packing brush, like the M709 Pointed Packer Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 2: Using the tapered tip of the same brush, smudge the same shade under the bottom lash lines and into the inner corners.
STEP 3: Sweep "Shadowplay" over the creases, from the inner corners toward the brow tails, using a round blending brush, like the M456 Mini Firm Blending Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 4: Pack "Voilà!" into the bottom lash lines and onto the outer third of the creases, using the rounded tip of a smudger brush, like the M213 Smudger Eyeliner Brush.
STEP 5: Line the upper lash lines with Make It Big Brush-Tip Liquid Liner, winging the liner out toward the brow tails.
STEP 6: Spritz a liner brush, like the M217 Bent Liner Eyeliner Brush, with Continuous Setting Mist, then extend "Shadowplay" along your bottom lash lines to create the double winged effect.
STEP 7: Coat lashes with Make It Big Volumizing Mascara.
LOOK 3: HOW TO CREATE A SHIMMERING REVERSE EYELINER LOOK
This artistry technique takes a classic cat-eyeliner effect and turns it upside down, like a trick of the light in a magic mirror. With reverse cat-eyeliner, the weight of the application appears beneath the lower lashes rather than above the upper ones. Add a dip in the inner corners and a flick on the outer corners, and you create a lifting effect—made only more mesmerizing when paired with the pearlescent peaches and shimmering taupes found in the 35MI Magic Mirror Artistry Palette. Here’s your step-by-step tutorial on mastering this reverse cat-eyeliner look:
STEP 1: Press "Dreams & Fantasies" onto the lids, using a blending brush, like the M139 Tapered Crease Blender Eyeshadow Brush.
STEP 2: Using the same brush, sweep the same shade from the inner corners through the creases and out toward the brow tails.
STEP 3: Working with the tip of the same brush, layer on "Shining Moment" from the lash lines to the creases.
STEP 4: Pack "Unreal Depths" into the upper lash lines, using an angled brush, like the M432 Flat Liner Definer Eyeliner Brush.
STEP 5: Using the same brush, smudge the same shade under the lower lash lines, extending the application toward the brow tails.
STEP 6: Continuing with the same brush, pack "Chills & Shivers" into the inner half of the lower lash lines.
STEP 7: Highlight the brow bones and inner corners with "Future Flash," using a detail brush, like the M421 Mini Concealer Brush.
